JOSEPH E. DE LEO Founder/Director/Writer/Editor/Producer Brought to the theatre with the dream of becoming an actor, Joseph De Leo changed directions when in the tenth grade he was asked by the head of the English department to write, produce and direct a play entitled Chaos for the York Board of Education Theatre Festival. What followed were various short and long format screenplays, but it wasn’t until 2001 when De Leo completed his first short film Fish ’n Chicks, which he penned, produced, directed and edited. Fish ’n Chicks gained notoriety at indie film festivals and has since taken on a life of its own on the web and most recently on Bite TV. Various reviews have been written about Fish ’n Chicks and an interview with De Leo regarding the experience of making the film has been published in the underground cult film book Midnight Mavericks, authored by Gene Gregorits. De Leo followed Fish ’n Chicks with two experimental shorts, Pilgarlic and Crank. De Leo’s next project was Pros & Cons, a narrative feature about a gigolo haunted by his past who searches for an idealized mother figure. Pros & Cons is Joseph De Leo’s first feature film.
